Total Triage Strategy
We are a total triage practice meaning all requests for appointments are triaged by a GP in the first instance. When the doctor triages your medical concern ensuring you are given the appropriate care by the appropriate clinician at the right time. This helps us to clinically prioritise patients requesting acute care ensuring patients are given the care they need at the time.
Our aim is to get back to you by the end of the next working day at the latest. You can either submit an eConsult or telephone us on 01325316637 to request an appointment.
In addition we are releasing a percentage of appointments for patients to book directly into with a GP online, we are trialling a small number at present.
We have a small number of pre-bookable face to face appointments available where you would need to access your NHS app or online log in to book these appointments.
How quickly can I get an appointment?
Like all practices in NHS England we all have a limit on the amount of appointments we provide. Whilst we understand all appointments are important not all need to be addressed immediately which is why we ask a doctor to triage your requests. It is the responsibility of our triaging doctor to determine the clinical urgency of your request based on the details you have provided.
If you are contacting us about a routine matter you could be offered an appointment either the same or the following week. Should we need to see you sooner than this, such as same or next day, we have the capacity to do this too. Although you may have to wait a little longer for routine care management this is so patients that need to be seen sooner can be based on their clinical urgency.
We have a large capacity for eConsults (demonstration video to the right) where there is no waiting in queues. Once we have reached our capacity this service is then removed but will return the following day. Click here to get started.
Can I still call the surgery?
Of course, please call us on 01325 316637; our telephone lines remain open from 8am until 6pm. In order to limit waiting times and to avoid disappointment can you call at the specific times as stated below:
08:00-09:30hrs - Requests for morning triage appointments only please* (including home visits for housebound patients).
09:30-12:00hrs - General enquiries (including results).
12:00-13:00hrs - Urgent requests only please (no results issued).
13:00-17:00hrs - General enquiries (including results).
17:00-18:00hrs - Urgent requests only please (no results issued).
*When requesting an appointment we will take you details to call you back where one of our trained receptionists will ask you a series of questions devised by our Doctors. They will then forward your details to the doctor and they will triage your request.
